Gardening workshops and talks
I run practical gardening workshops and give talks for gardening clubs, community groups, schools and workplaces across County Durham and the North East. Sessions are friendly, hands-on where possible, and built around what your group wants to learn.
Topics
| Propagation | Growing new plants for free from seed, cuttings and division, with plenty to take home. |
|---|---|
| Wildlife gardening | Simple ways to bring bees, birds and hedgehogs into any garden. |
| Growing your own | Planning a veg patch or allotment, sowing, and keeping crops healthy. |
| Seasonal care | Pruning, planting and getting the garden ready for the season ahead. |
| Right plant, right place | Reading your soil and light, and choosing plants that will thrive. |
Who I work with
| Gardening clubs and societies | Talks for regular meetings, pitched to your members' experience. |
|---|---|
| Community groups | Hands-on sessions for community gardens, allotment associations and local groups. |
| Schools | Practical, curriculum-friendly growing sessions for pupils. |
| Workplaces | Wellbeing sessions that get people outside and growing. |
For individual advice in your own garden, a garden consultation is usually the better fit.
Price
I price workshops and talks when you get in touch, depending on the length of the session, the group size and any materials needed.
I also offer garden consultations, planting plans, garden design, wildlife gardens, veg and allotment coaching, native hedge planting and gift vouchers, and you can read more about my background.
Workshops and talks questions
Do you bring the materials?
For hands-on workshops, I can bring what's needed, such as pots, compost, seeds and cuttings material. We'll agree the details when you book.
How many people can come?
Talks can work for larger audiences; hands-on workshops work best with smaller groups so everyone gets to have a go. Tell me roughly how many you're expecting.
Can a workshop be tailored to our group?
Yes. I can adapt any of the topics, or plan something around your own garden, allotment site or project.
Book a workshop or talk
Tell me about your group, the topic and roughly when, and I'll reply with a price and availability.
